Captain Shubhman Gill created history by playing an unbeaten inning of 223 runs. He became the second Indian batsman after Rohit Sharma to score the most runs in a single innings in ODIs. Apart from this, Gill has also become the second batsman to score two double centuries in ODIs. Rohit Sharma has a record of three double centuries in ODI.

Gill also broke Ishan Kishan's record of fastest double century in ODI. Kishan had scored a double century on 126 balls, while Shubman Gill achieved this feat on 117 runs. Gill became the second batsman to score a double century while chasing. Earlier, Glenn Maxwell had changed the fate of the entire match by scoring a double century against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup. Gill scored his first double century against New Zealand in Hyderabad on 18 January 2023. Then an inning of 208 runs was played in 149 balls.

Virat Kohli faced 19 balls and scored an inning of 29 runs. Rituraj Gaikwad contributed 31 unbeaten runs in 37 balls. West Indies team gave 22 extra runs. West Indies' three centuries did not work

The West Indies team, which came to bat first against India, scored a huge score of 405 runs for the first time in ODI, thanks to centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope and Aamir Jangu. Campbell set the tone with a century in 65 balls as the West Indies batsmen tore apart India's inexperienced fast bowling attack. He remained unbeaten after scoring 114 runs with the help of 13 fours and three sixes. This marked the first time that West Indies scored three centuries in ODIs. This score was better than his previous best performance of 389 runs against England in 2019.

Indian bowler Auqib Nabi gave away 84 runs in his 8.5 overs. They struggled to contain West Indies on a flat pitch. Gurnoor Brar took two wickets for 96 runs while Prasidh Krishna took one wicket for 45 runs in five overs. Batsman all-rounder Naman Dhir had to leave the field in the 36th over after bowling 6.1 overs due to a sprained ankle. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets for 65 runs and with this became a part of the 200 wicket club. Ravindra Jadeja also took two wickets and gave 75 runs.
