Tezzbuzz Desk- Amidst the political controversy regarding the Election Commission, Congress started protests across the country on September 25 against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress workers from Patna to Jammu are marching to the Election Commission offices and demanding action including his resignation.

Congress leaders allege that serious questions have been raised regarding the election process and voter list, which should be investigated. Congress workers demonstrated outside Nirvachan Bhavan in Jammu. Party leaders said that the protest will continue until action is taken on their demands.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi demanded legal action and arrest against Gyanesh Kumar. Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had also demanded the resignation of CEC. Congress has directed all state Congress committees to take out a march to the Election Commission offices. After this, on September 28, the District Congress Committees have been asked to march to the district headquarters.

Meanwhile, CJP has also given Gyanesh Kumar an ultimatum of 48 hours to resign. The organization has warned of nationwide agitation after the deadline is met.

The controversy intensified after a report claimed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi lodged multiple objections to the commission's decisions and administrative orders over the last 10 months. These cases were said to be to SIR, voter list and the process of adding and removing names. However, the Election Commission has said amidst these claims that the final decisions of the Commission are taken with the consent of the three Election Commissioners.
