Haryana News: A delegation met Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini regarding the rehabilitation of families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and resolution of their problems. The delegation placed the pending demands of the affected families before the Chief Minister and demanded steps to be taken for relief and rehabilitation for them.

Problems of affected families put before CM

The delegation discussed with the Chief Minister the current situation of the families affected by the 1984 violence and their long standing problems. The delegation said that concrete solutions are still needed on many issues to the rehabilitation of the victim families and their rights.

During the meeting, employment, financial assistance and other rehabilitation facilities for the families were also discussed. The delegation demanded from the government that the cases of the affected families should be looked into on priority basis and the pending problems should be resolved.

The government has already announced employment

The Haryana government has already made an important announcement for the families affected by the 1984 riots. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had said in the Assembly in August 2025 that a government job would be given on priority basis to one member from each of the 121 families in the state whose family members were killed in the 1984 violence.

After this, the government also approved changes in the policy to implement this announcement. Under this, a provision was made to provide suitable employment to one member of the eligible families through Haryana Skill Employment Corporation (HKRN). According to the qualification, a provision has been made for posting in a suitable job of Level-1, Level-2 or Level-3.

Haryana was also affected by the violence of 1984

According to available government and media records, a large number of families in Haryana were also affected during the 1984 violence. Chief Minister Saini had told in the Assembly that about 20 Gurudwaras, 221 houses, 154 shops and 57 factories were set on fire in the state. Apart from this, 58 people were injured and 121 people died.

In such a situation, the affected families have been raising issues to rehabilitation, employment and financial assistance for a long time. Now after the meeting of the delegation with the Chief Minister, an eye will be kept on what further steps are taken by the government on these demands.
