Padikkal, who made a comeback in Test cricket, scored his first international century on the first day of the Galle Test. He completed his century in 134 balls. Padikkal, who came in to bat at number three, put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers throughout the day. The 26-year-old batsman hit a number of brilliant shots throughout his innings and was especially aggressive against the spinners. He completed his half-century in 81 balls. Devdutt Padikkal's brilliant unbeaten century strengthened India's position on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
