People associated with the protest say that Wangchuk is not ready to back down on his demands and is demanding answers from the government.
At the same time, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali J. Angmo has raised questions regarding the treatment in the hospital. He said that Wangchuk should not be given any medicine or medical treatment without his permission. Geetanjali said that she wants the family and her regular doctors to be consulted before any treatment. He also raised questions regarding the transparency of the medical report. He says that doctors told him that Sonam Wangchuk’s potassium level was earlier 4.3, which has now come down to 2.9. He has demanded to provide a copy of the medical report.
Gitanjali Angmo said the family wants an independent medical examination before any treatment is approved. He claimed that complete information regarding Sonam Wangchuk’s condition should be shared with the family.
He has written a letter to the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital demanding that no oral or intravenous medicine and fluid be given to Sonam Wangchuk without his consent. He has also asked for copies of all the medical reports.
According to Delhi Police, Sonam Wangchuk was taken to the hospital on the advice of health experts and in view of her deteriorating condition. Police say that this step was taken keeping in mind their safety and health.
Currently, Sonam is under the supervision of doctors in Wangchuk Hospital. On one hand, the hospital is trying to provide him medical aid, on the other hand, Wangchuk and his supporters are determined to continue the movement for their demands.
