For SANAM , Pune is more than just another stop on the tour calendar. Over the years, the city has quietly become intertwined with the band’s journey — from some of their earliest performances outside Mumbai to friendships, food trails, and loyal audiences that have stayed with them through different phases of their career.

During a recent interaction with Pune Times, the band reflected on the emotional connection they continue to share with Pune. Bassist Venky revealed that Pune was among the first cities where SANAM began building a live audience beyond Mumbai. “We’ve been based in Bombay for about 17 years now, and Pune has always been one of the first cities we performed in outside of it,” he shared. “It holds a lot of fond memories for us.”

According to him, the city feels especially significant this time because it marks the closing leg of the band’s India tour before they head abroad. “It feels like wrapping up one chapter before starting another,” he said.

Guitarist Samar Puri also recalled how frequently the band travelled to Pune during their early years. “In the early days of the band, we used to come here a lot — whether for concerts or private shows,” he said. “Some of our most memorable performances have happened here.”

But for SANAM, the city’s appeal extends far beyond music.

Keshav Dhanraj laughed while speaking about Pune’s food culture and the band’s collective obsession with eating. “We have friends here who run restaurants, so we’ve explored a lot of food in Pune,” he said. “Wherever there’s good food, we’re happy.”

For a band that has spent over a decade travelling across cities and countries, some places inevitably become emotional anchors. And for SANAM, Pune appears to be one of them. A city tied not just to concerts, but to the quieter moments that happen between them.
