The seventh match of IPL 2026 is being played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings at the KMA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings scored 209 runs in 20 overs at the loss of five wickets and set a target of 210 runs for Punjab Kings.
After losing the toss, the opening pair of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson entered the field. But Chennai did not get a strong start. Chennai got its first blow on the score of 14 runs on the last ball of the second over.
Sanju Samson returned to the pavilion after playing an inning of 7 runs in 7 balls. After this, Ayush Mhatre’s stormy innings put Chennai on a strong position. Captain Gaikwad played an inning of 28 runs in 22 balls with the help of two fours.
On the score of 110 on the first ball of the 12th over, Chennai got the second blow in the form of Rituraj Gaikwad. Ayush Mhatre played an explosive inning of 73 runs in 43 balls. He hit six fours and five sixes. The important wicket of Ayush Mhatre fell when the team scored 123 runs in 12.3 overs.
After seven runs, Chennai got its fourth blow at the score of 130. Karthik Sharma could score only 1 run on three balls. When Sarfaraz played an explosive inning of 32 runs in 12 balls, Chennai got a chance to take control a little. Sarfaraz hit six fours and one six in his innings. The fifth wicket fell at the score of 168 runs.
Bowling: Marco Jansen took one wicket for 43 runs in four overs. Vijaykumar Vaishak gave 38 runs and took two important wickets in the form of Ayush Mhatre and Sarfaraz. Xavier Bartlett gave 43 runs in four overs. He got the wicket of Sanju Samson. Yajuvendra Chahal took one wicket for 21 runs in three overs. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh gave 41 runs in four overs. But he did not get any success.
Sarfaraz and Dubey took over the team: Chennai’s innings started faltering in the middle order. The team suffered three setbacks between the score of 110 and 130. Then Sarfaraz played a stormy inning of 32 runs in 12 balls and put the team in a strong position. On the other end, Shivam Dubey maintained the lead till the end. He played an inning of 45 runs in 27 balls with the help of five fours and one six and took the team’s score to 209 runs.
