Patna. . An ambitious project in Bihar is in its final stages. The 189 km long expressway being built from Amas to Darbhanga is going to prove to be a big good news for the state. With the full operation of this route, connectivity between the districts of North and South Bihar will be fast and safe, and the travel time will be reduced to more than half.


Connectivity to major cities and airports


This expressway will start from Amas in Aurangabad district and will reach Bela Nawada in Darbhanga. Major districts like Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Vaishali and Samastipur will also be connected on the route. The most important thing is that this expressway will directly connect the three major airports of Bihar – Gaya, Patna and Darbhanga – by road. This will not only provide convenience to passengers, but will also open new opportunities for business activities and tourism.


Construction status and cost


So far, about 60 percent work of the project has been completed. Pillar and structure work in Darbhanga section is in the final stage. About Rs 5 to 6 thousand crores are being spent on this project. It is being made by NHAI under the hybrid annuity model.


Travel and Business Benefits


After the commissioning of this expressway, the distance from Gaya to Darbhanga will reduce from the present 5-6 hours to 2.5-3 hours. This will save both time and fuel. Apart from this, increasing connectivity between about 19 small and big cities of the state will increase trade, logistics and industrial activities. Its positive impact will be seen in the tourism sector also.

According to the government’s plan, this expressway will be fully operational by December 2026. The state administrative authorities in collaboration with the Union Road Transport Ministry have ensured the connectivity of Darbhanga Airport. The construction of this expressway is being considered a milestone in the economic and social development of Bihar.
