Sam Altman Brain Project: In the world of technology, the race to understand the human mind has started. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT, is now working on a new and very interesting project, which has been named “Brain”. It is being told that this project will prove to be a big step towards creating a direct connection between human thinking and computers.
According to reports, OpenAI is now creating a new brain-computer interface (BCI) system in collaboration with a company called Merge Labs. This system will capture the signals and sounds emanating from the brain, so that the computer or device can be controlled only through thinking.
The most important thing is that this technology will not require any surgery or operation, that is, there will be no need to open the head and insert any chip.
This new project of Sam Altman is going to directly challenge Elon Musk’s Neuralink. Neuralink has recently created a BCI chip which is implanted in the human brain. The company has also conducted its first successful experiment, in which a paralyzed person is able to move the cursor of the computer only with his thoughts.
Neuralink’s technology is fitted inside the human skull. For this, surgery has to be done and a small chipset is installed inside the brain. This chip converts brain signals into digital commands, through which a person can control a computer, mobile or other device through his thoughts.
Altman says that his system will be “non-invasive” i.e. without surgery. No cutting or operation will be done in this. This technology will use sensors that will read brain signals from outside the head. This will make its use easier and safer.
According to the report of tech website The Verge, Sam Altman is building a big team at Merge Labs. Many renowned scientists are being added to the company. The name of famous molecular biologist Mikhail Shiparo is also said to be included in these. However, what role he will be joining has not been officially confirmed yet.
Elon Musk’s Neuralink is currently designed for those patients who cannot move the lower part of the body due to paralysis or spinal injury.
One such person, Nolan Arbo, has been part of Neuralink’s first human trials. A chip was successfully implanted in his brain, after which he is now able to operate computers and laptops with the help of his brain signals.
Sam Altman’s ‘Brain’ technology can also prove to be a boon for such patients, but its focus will not only be on medical but also on general users, that is, in future people will be able to operate their computers or mobiles without keyboard or screen, just by thinking.
This new step by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman can bring another revolution in the world of technology. While Neuralink is advancing technology by implanting a chip in the human brain, “Brain” is trying to do this miracle without surgery. In the coming years, it will be interesting to see which technology first succeeds in fully understanding human thinking in digital form.
