At a time when companies are rethinking work-life balance, Cluelya US-based AI startup, has taken things a step further—by rewarding employees for matchmaking.

In a recent company-wide message, CEO revealed a new policy offering a $500 bonus (approx. ₹43,000) to any employee who sets up a successful date for a colleague. The idea? Blend workplace culture with personal connectionwhile giving a fun twist to team dynamics.

The Fine Print of Playing Cupid

The rules are simple:
If Employee A introduces Employee B to someone they enjoy dating, Employee A earns $500.
Multiple successful setups mean multiple bonuses. For example, if someone connects two different pairs successfully, they could walk away with $1,000 or more.

Importantly, Cluely doesn’t require proof of long-term success—a happy date is enough to cash in.

Why Is Cluely Doing This?

Cluely, best known for its AI meeting assistant that gives real-time conversation tips—even for job interviews and first dates—believes that human connection is integral to productivity and well-being.

The company, which recently raised $15 million in fundingis gaining attention for its bold and unconventional employee policies. With the slogan “We want to cheat on everything,” Cluely has always embraced a playful, disruptive identity in the AI space.

A New Kind of Corporate Culture

While some companies offer yoga classes or mental health days, Cluely is offering something more personal: love and laughter—with a side of cash.

Whether it’s a marketing gimmick or a serious attempt at team bonding, the dating bonus reflects a trend toward creative employee engagement. It also sparks debate: should workplaces get involved in their employees’ personal lives?

Regardless, Cluely’s Cupid incentive is hard to ignoreand it might just inspire other startups to rethink what it means to care for employees—beyond the paycheck.
