New Delhi: The Porsche 911 lineup, last updated with its 992.2-generation models, was over a year ago. After a period of time people can witness the facelifted versions of the GTS, Carrera, Targa, and GT3. But this doesn’t stop here. CEO Oliver Blume confirmed that during Porsche’s recent half-year earnings call, Porsche will later this year reveal its 911 Turbo S.Alongside it, a non-S Turbo version is also expected.

Porsche officials also announced that the Turbo S would come with its new hybrid powertrain, which doesn’t surprise people at all since Porsche’s former CFO, Lutz Meschke, had already revealed back in October 2024 that the 992.2 Turbo S would be electrified.

How Porsche is Going Hybrid

The Varta battery setup will be used to build Porsche’s hybrid models, as Porsche now owns V4Drive GmbH, a battery tech company previously part of the Varta AG Group. This shows Porsche’s clear direction toward combining high performance with modern electric technology.

When Porsche became the majority stakeholder, they took over the GTS, which were already using cylindrical cells from V4Drive later on to rebrand it as V4Smart. They set their manufacturing plant for mankind of 1.9 kilowatt-hour battery packs used for T hybrid system cars. Porsche’s mission is to hire up a workforce of 375 employees across both locations to put together the new 911 hybrid.

What does a Hybrid Car mean

It’s a type of car mechanism which doesn’t just rely on fuel to move, but also uses electricity to make the ride smoother, quieter, and cleaner. This is actually what a hybrid car does. It put together the petrol engine working side by side with an electric motor. When the car is moving through city traffic, the electric motor quietly takes over. When the car is running on highways, the fuel engine takes control. Cooperatively, they built a smarter way to drive while saving fuel, reducing pollution, and bringing a little closer to the future of mobility.
