Jannik Sinner has opened up about the difficulty of moving past the missed opportunities in his thrilling French Open defeat to Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian was on the cusp of victory with three match points in hand during the fourth set at Roland Garros, having been two sets up.
But Alcaraz staged a remarkable comeback to snatch his fifth Grand Slam title in what has been lauded as one of the greatest finals ever witnessed. Both players are gearing up for their next tournaments, with Alcaraz entering as the top seed at the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club and Sinner taking part in the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle.
After returning to Italy post-defeat, the world No.1 is seeking comfort in competition once again. Speaking to Tennis TV, he reflected: "It was for sure a tough loss. I still think about these couple of points, and it won't stop here, I know that.
"But, in the other way, I'm happy to be here, I'm happy to start a new tournament. I think this helps me to get again into this match rhythm, and let's see how I'm going to react."
Sinner also chose to focus on the positives, saying: "You can see the negative side but there is also a positive side. I've never played tennis on clay like this.
"I went to Rome, I made the final there. I played in Paris, I made the final of a grand slam, so amazing, and the level we have played, me and Carlos, was extremely high so I was happy to be a part of this."
Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are already underway with their Wimbledon preparations, having reached the final of this week's Boss Open in Stuttgart.
Top seed Zverev triumphed over Ben Shelton, who is set to enter the top-10 rankings on Monday, with a 7-6 (8) 7-6 (1) victory in the semi-finals, while Fritz defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4 7-6 (5).
Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's final, Fritz's resurgence this week will propel him past Jack Draper and Novak Djokovic to fourth place in the rankings.
