New Delhi : From last few days there is a drastic change in the atmosphere. It is still raining in some places. Some places are facing ‘October hit’. However, now Tamil Nadu Heavy raintook off. Incessant heavy rains in Tamil Nadu have led to waterlogging in many areas and paddy crops in several districts have been submerged. As many as 1.46 lakh people in the state have been affected by this heavy rain.


A decision was taken to release water from three major dams after the rapid rise in the reservoir level in Chennai. Meanwhile, a change in weather was observed in the higher areas of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning. Kullu received heavy rain and Lahaul received its second snowfall of the season. A deep low pressure area over Southeast Arabian Sea will move north-northwestward during the next 24 hours. Another low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu coast is expected to convert into a low pressure in the next 12 hours, which is expected to bring more rain to the state.


Besides, the Chennai Water Resources Department is releasing water from the Chembarambakkam, Poozal (Red Hills) and Pundi dams on alert to safely divert excess water to the sea. The department has appealed to people not to panic due to this.


Mettur Dam overflowed


Mettur Dam, the largest in the state, has reached a capacity of 120 feet. The inflow of water from the dam is 36484 cusecs while the release of water is 35741 cusecs. The Villupuram bus stand was submerged due to incessant rains, causing major inconvenience to commuters. Many buses were running from outside the station, so passengers had to wade through water. Teams of the Chennai Police and Municipal Corporation were seen working to remove water from the roads and remove fallen trees.


Heavy rain on Diwali


For the past few days, many types of changes in the environment are being seen across the country. Heavy rain is falling in between.
